This winter Maybelline released three new primers that help with either smoothing, illuminating, or reducing redness. I picked up the blur and smooth primer for about $7.99 at Rite Aid hoping it would be a cheaper alternative to my favorite Benefit Porefessional primer.
This primer claims to:
While this primer doesn’t claim to “blur pores” like the porefessional it does fulfill its claim of smoothing fine lines and priming the skin for a smooth start. The formula is very lightweight and resembles a moisturizer which I love since I hate primers that I can feel “sitting” on my skin throughout the day.
Side by side comparison of the porefessional (top) and the master prime (bottom):
As you can see the master prime is much thinner and lighter than the porefessional and while it might not even out skin texture as well its definitely helps my foundation go on smoothly and last throughout the day. My skin tends to be drier in the winter so I’m actually preferring this primer right now as an added layer of moisture! What I love is how this primer sinks into my skin which helps keep my foundation looking natural. I really prefer this formula to a silicone based primer because it makes my foundation look like skin instead of cakey. I’m pretty picky about face products, so this is the only drugstore primer I’ve tried, but it is definitely a success!
Maybelline has come out with so many great new products this season be sure to be on the lookout for them at your local drugstore!
